St. Patrick's Day Slacker

I must admit, life has been a bit crazy lately. I have become a slacker in the holiday decor department (so sad, I know!) and am almost embarrassed to admit this. It is March 16th, and I have not gotten a single St. Patty's decoration out yet this year, and at this point I probably won't. So if you wandered to this blog looking for St. Patrick's Day decorations, you will not find them here, at least not this year. 

Instead, I have decided to share posts from last year. I can't completely bypass this holiday after all.

First off, I created this beautiful vignette last year. So simple, yet so festive.

I wish I could have spent more time decorating this year, but it snuck up on me so fast. After this post, I'm at least going to go hang my wreath!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This was our first year celebrating St. Patty's Day outside Mount Pleasant. I guess it's a sign we are growing up, because we enjoyed our small gathering on Saturday night instead. 

Of course we still enjoyed our green beverages...

...decorated the dog...

...and sported our St. Patty's apparel.

Needless to say, a few of us partied a little to hard, spending all of Sunday recovering.

St. Patrick's Day Vignette

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today I am sharing my St. Patty's Day Vignette with you all. It's simple, but festive, just the way I like it.

I used my wedding jewels and gems for my candle plate and added a little green to it. I love how much it sparkles!

Lucky Blocks

I enjoyed my Love Blocks so much, I decided to make some for St. Patrick's Day! I went with the word "lucky." I had leftover wood and spray paint. I found some cute green scrapbook pages in my collection and cut out the letters. I then Mod-Podged it and finished it off with some green ribbon. Ta-Dah!

Has anyone else tried to make these letter wood blocks? I'm a bit addicted!

Tutorial: Decorative Fabric Balls- St. Patrick's Day Edition

I had some fabric leftover from my wreath, so I decided to make some decorative balls for my glass vase. Turns out, I like them better in my fruit bowl. At any rate, they are very simple to make!

what you will need:

fabric, pins, sytrofoam balls, scissors

First, I cut the fabric into strips. The size of each strip will depend on the size of your styrofoam balls, mine were 3 inches. My strips ended up being somewhere between 0.5 inch-1 inch wide, and about 9.5 inches long. I eyeballed these measurements, so they were not exact each time. Each ball required 8 strips of fabric, but that will depend on how thin you make you strips.

Once your strips are cut, you are ready to begin. I began wrapping the fabric strips around the styrofoam ball and using one pin to join the ends. Continue this process until the entire ball is covered.

When your entire ball is covered and you can no longer see the styrofoam, you have finished your first fabric ball. Repeat these steps to fill an entire vase, bowl, etc.

Tutorial: St. Patty's Day Rag Wreath

With Valentine's Day over, I figured I'd dive right in to St. Patrick's Day. Here is the next wreath that will be replacing my hearts on the front door!

what you will need:

a wire hanger, fabric, scissors, ribbon

I used five different patterns for this wreath (all from Joann's), but you could use as many or as few as you would like. I purchased half a yard of each fabric, but still had plenty left for another project or two or three.

To start this project, I shaped the wire hanger into a circle and cut off the hook at the top. 

Next, I cut strips of each fabric. My strips were approximately 1 to 1.5 inches wide and 8-9 inches long. I say approximately because I did not measure as I cut because I figured it wouldn't matter for the final product. You may cut your strips any width you desire. If you have more fabrics, you may want them thinner so each one takes up less space.

Once all the work is done, the fun begins! I began tying each strip to the wire hanger until the hanger was full and my wreath was complete! The amount of fabric strips you need will depend on how thin you cut your strips. I also added a ribbon to mine for hanging.
